History
ABP Associates began trading in December 2000 and rapidly grew from the 2 Directors in 2000 working from their home to a team of 30 staff today comprising trainers, surveyors, analysts, laboratory technicians, project managers and an administration team with offices in Southampton, Bristol and Kettering servicing customers large and small nationwide.
ABP gained their UKAS Accreditation Inspection Body Status No 402 in June 2006 and Testing Laboratory No 4494 in May 2010 and consistently maintain these accreditations. Consequently, ABP provide surveying and testing services with a fleet of mobile laboratories as well as their teaching and commercial laboratory in Southampton. In 2023 ABP gained their ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certifications to further cement their services.
ABP have become well known for their training services with dedicated classrooms and practical areas for hands on training at their training centre in Southampton as well as at client’s premises.
ABP have the expertise and experience to support clients and ensure they remain compliant. Our clients include various local authorities, colleges and schools, housing associations, the Ministry of Defence, University NHS Hospitals, facilities management companies, petrochemical companies and the rail industry.

Richard Pomeroy
Managing Director CoCA
Richard is an asbestos industry expert with over 40 years of experience having progressed from surveyor and analyst to Director at Casella Hazmat and then on to MD at ABP in 2003. Today his focus is business development and the mentoring of our leadership team.
Alison Pomeroy
Finance & HR Director MSc.
Alison began as a surveyor and analyst at Casella Hazmat, moving into industrial chimney monitoring, contaminated land and groundwater investigations.
She re-trained in HR and Finance as ABP grew.
Jon Mackay
Quality Manager B.Sc. AFAAM
Similar to the rest of the team, Jon started as a surveyor/analyst, learning from the ground up, and has over 25 years of experience within the asbestos sector. He moved into quality assurance and training in the last 10 years, while continuing with project management, joining ABP in 2022.
Marvin Sexton
Operations Manager
Marvin has over 15 years experience in the asbestos industry beginning as a surveyor/analyst. He joined ABP as the Rail Contracts Manager in 2019 and principally managed all works relating to our Network Rail Framework Agreement. He has progressed to Operations Manager focussing on business strategy, development and the management of large key clients.
Graham Bruce-Gardner
Technical Manager CoCA LFAAM
Graham began in the asbestos industry in 1993 as an analyst/surveyor and quickly moved into project management of large complex sites such as hospitals, tunnels, power stations and the railways. Graham joined ABP in 2019 as a Senior Project Manager and became Technical Manager in 2023 leading large projects and business development.
